What does a destination wedding cost?

The question of all questions: what does a wedding cost? It is the most frequently asked question that my bridal couples always ask me. Comprehensible, because it is very exciting to organize your wedding for the first time and most people have never really thought about weddings and the costs before. Until now. Because now you are engaged and want to know which average costs you should expect and budget. My answer to that question is always a counter question: What is your personal budget and what do you want to spend?

Frankly: asking for the average price of a wedding is like asking for an average price for a car, any car. The costs for a wedding can range between a few hundred and several thousands of euros and will always depend on your wishes and budget. Do you want a compact car or a big limousine?

In the internet you will find many different predictions on the average costs of your wedding. However, there is not the single right answer and the price will be very different if you want to have a celebration with 200 guests in a fancy hotel or with 20 invitees at the beach. All will be a question of your desires and budget. So please make the calculation and see what you are able to spend. That way you will build a frame for the costs and the planning. 

Important questions for the budget planning of your wedding

The two of you should take the time before starting to plan the wedding and answer a few questions for yourselves:

• Do you want to get married just the two of you or do you want to invite your family and friends?
• How many people do you absolutely want to have at the wedding?
• Do you want a big celebration or a small reception?
• Do you want to buy a new wedding dress or get one second hand?
• Do you want to organize everything yourselves or do you want to give the whole planning to someone else?

With the answers to each of those questions you will see clearer how big and elaborate your wedding should be. This will make it easier for you to calculate the potential costs. 

Now you are still wondering what your wedding might cost? Of course, there are a few must-haves that make the difference between a party and a wedding. Those are:

• A ceremony with an officiant or priest (that depends if you want an official ceremony or not)
• A wedding dress
• Wedding rings
• A dinner with several courses
• A DJ or sound system for your music

For a destination wedding you would certainly also need the transport to the location.

CONCLUSION: The costs for your wedding depend on a lot of factors like your budget and your must haves for the celebration. However, our advice is that you should never get into debt to celebrate your wedding.

Hi lovers, 

writing this post is a great honor for me. I have been a big fan of the two designers of Noni Mode in Cologne and met them a few years ago. This autumn I had the pleasure to organize a wedding dress shooting with them here in our beloved Almería. Meeting them again felt like I have known them a long time already. Probably it is because they are exactly how you can see them in their social media channels: real, authentic and very likeable. When Joanne contacted me and told me they wanted to shoot their new wedding dress collection in Almería, I did not hesitate a second in becoming their location scout for the shooting. Of course they came with one of their best photographers Le Hai Linh. Good old Linh also was the photographer at the first wedding that I organized in Almería, so he knew about the perfect light he would have for his pictures here in Cabo de Gata. Back then he could not stop taking more and more pictures at the fabulous wedding of Magda and Roman. Then they arrived in Almeria, the magnificent designers of Noni with all their new wedding dresses, the photographer with his camera and the stylists of Maskenraum, to start the preparation for the beach shooting at five o´clock in the morning. A time when other people turn around in their bed to get a few more hours of sleep. In case you didn´t know: you will have the best lighting conditions for beautiful pictures early in the morning before the sun rises or shortly after sunset. It is magic!

The new 2020 collection of Noni Mode is breathtaking, very tender and very sexy. It is an amazing choice for all boho brides who want to show some skin. 

The semi transparent materials fall soft and move with the wind at the beach and are absolutely glamourous. All of Noni´s collection are two-piece dresses that can be combined differently. Unfortunately, I cannot show you all of my favorite pictures of the shooting because it was just too many. However, below you can see a selection of my absolute favorites. The biggest dream of Mirjam and Roy was to get married directly on the beach with the feet in the sand and with only their closest friends and family around – an authentic wedding in Spain. We didn´t only have the pleasure to meet the couple in our video call for the first time, like we usually do with all our couples. No, Mirjam and Roy came to Almeria a few months before the wedding to meet us in person and have a look at the fantastic locations. Of course also to enjoy the Spanish sun.
When they came to Almeria to visit the first location we hit the bull´s eye. For them it was the perfect spot to have an easy going celebration with a bombastic view on the Mediterranean Sea.  

On the day of the big event when the Ambrosia team got to the location for the preparation of the decoration, the couple and their guests were sunbathing, swimming in the pool and just enjoying the amazing weather and location. We had to admit – at 34 degrees and working in the sun we were a little bit jealous of them. 

The couple had a free ceremony with their closest friends and family with some emotional surprises and unexpected tears of some family members. The pictures below will say more than a thousand words could do. After the ceremony they had the wild, long party until the crack of dawn. They enjoyed exquisite Spanish tapas and wine, a lot of wine. A dream that always passes by too quickly. However, looking at the pictures I can always travel back to this sunny day and pleasant night.

When the bride came to us in the evening and said: “I think this is by far the most beautiful decoration I have ever seen!”, we knew once again why it is worth working and sweating in the sun the whole day.

Los Escullos, one of the most spectacular sites for a wedding at the beach in Almeria. White cliffs, crystal clear water and gorgeous places for a stunning photo shooting. That is the reason why we decided to do a styled shoot here, on this delightful spot in the nature park Cabo de Gata. The white beach bar up on top of a hill above the bays is also one of our top wedding locations (and a perfect place to have a drink, also if you don’t get married there). Enjoy a Mojito and some delicious tapas while listening to the sound of the sea. Our photographer Violeta Pelikan was so excited about the lighting conditions that she wouldn’t stop taking pictures.
